Can stainless steel jewelry withstand water?
Stainless steel, also called stainless steel (stainless steel) is currently very popular. Logical because:
- Stainless steel jewelry hardly discolours
- Stainless steel jewelry is very affordable
- Stainless steel jewelry is hypoallergenic
- Stainless steel jewelry can withstand water. (However?)
Stainless steel jewelry, chlorine, shampoo and perfume. Not a good combination
Well… that is true, but not quite. Stainless steel will indeed not discolor with pure tap water. Tap water from the Netherlands will not discolour the jewellery. However, when you take a shower you may use shampoo or shower gel. And stainless steel jewelry doesn't like that very much. These agents can ensure that the gold layer still comes off your beautiful stainless steel jewelry or that the jewelry becomes dull.
Can you swim with stainless steel jewelry?
No, I strongly advise against that. Stainless steel cannot withstand chlorine at all. So take off your jewelry when you go swimming.
What other advantage does stainless steel jewelry have?
Most people can tolerate stainless steel jewelry very well and hardly get any allergic reactions. Something that is less often the case with other affordable jewelry made of, for example, silver-plated or gold-plated metal.
Jewelry made of stainless steel
What is the difference with stainless steel and sterling silver or gold-plated sterling silver in terms of appearance?
Silver-colored stainless steel is a bit of vintage silver. Sterling silver , on the other hand, is real silver and shines much more. Gold-colored stainless steel also has a slightly different color of gold than gold-plated sterling silver. Gold-plated sterling silver looks like real gold jewelry, while gold-colored stainless steel looks slightly different. Not for everyone to perceive, but if you are used to sterling silver or gold-plated sterling silver, stainless steel will probably not be your preference .
