Tips for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day falls on a Tuesday this year. Perhaps not the most romantic day of the week, but at least it has the practical advantage that the postman does drop by. So put in big letters in your calendar on February 13 that you will be sending a card on this day. Cheesy maybe, but always good. If you are the type that goes for security, you might choose to put the card on the bus on the 12th. Practical, but we say 'don't'. A little less romantic if the card is already there the day before. Do you want to go safe? Then buy a spare card, you can always throw it through the bus :-).

Romantic atmosphere

For the sake of simplicity, we assume that you are both home in the evening. Time to create a nice atmosphere. It's still dark early, so candles (and preferably a lot of them) are a good move. Music is also a real mood maker. In terms of radio station, Sublime FM or good old SkyRadio is always a good choice, but the news every half hour might be a bit sobering. If you opt for Spotify or a playlist via i-Tunes, consider classics such as Tracy Chapman and Sade. Otherwise, check out the playlists on SkyRadio and put together your perfect love song list yourself.

Candlelight dinner

Are you a kitchen hero or more of a takeaway king? In the first case we don't have to tell you much, except maybe the tip not to make it too heavy. There should always be room for dessert. We will come back to this later…. In the second case, don't worry! Sites like Thuisbezorgd can provide a lot of inspiration. There are also many good sushi restaurants nowadays where you can pick up great dishes. In any case, make sure you have a nicely set table (check our Facebook for suggestions)!

Dessert

Of course dessert is just part of your dinner and we could have placed it under the heading above, butrrrr… dessert just deserves its own chapter. No matter how good (or bad) you are in the kitchen, dessert is something everyone can do. As far as we're concerned, the magic word is (drumroll…) CHOCOLA! In ice cream form, mousse form, pudding form, as far as we are concerned it doesn't really matter, as long as it is one of the ingredients, preferably the main ingredient. Chocolate always scores.

You made the effort to create the perfect atmosphere and provide a delicious dinner. Do you also have to go out in advance and pick out a present? Nothing is mandatory, but as far as I'm concerned it's the icing on the cake. The idea that someone has taken the trouble to carefully choose the perfect gift for you is just very nice. But what is the perfect gift? Of course we cannot estimate that from a distance, but things like roses, perfume or a piece of jewelry always do well. Do you find it difficult to find a handmade piece of jewelry that suits your wife or girlfriend? We like to think along with you and you can always exchange!
